Sitting in the school corridors and watching everyone using their phones made me aware of how much I was affected by what other people were doing. In junior high school I didn't care that much when adults repeated that youth uses phones way too much. Probably this was due to the fact that I didn't used mine that often. Now when there are no topics to talk about, everyone just pulls out their phones and when I see that I automaticly do the same even if I know it would be better to talk.

I have noticed that too. I think people tend to turn to their phones when a situation gets uncomfortable or awkward. They might use it as a way of running away from unpleasent moments.
