Frida Kahlo I
Frida Kahlo was considered one of
the greatest artist. She was born on 6 July 1907 but she claimed she was born
in 1910, the year of the outbreak of the Mexican revolution, Frida wanted her
life to began with moder Mexico. Since childhood she was characterized with deep
sense of independence and rebellion against social and moral ordinary habits.
She was proud of her orgins and traditions, and she was moved by passion.
In all her life she suffer a lot of
pain. At the age of five she had polio which affected her right leg. Her leg
grew thin and even when her father made sure she regulary execised her foot
remained deformed. She was trying to hide it by wearing pants, long skirts or
two pairs of socks on her right foot. She was cruelly nicknamed ‘‘peg-leg Frida’’
by her classmates during German classes she attended to in elementary school.
Her pain got worst when in september
17, 1925 Frida and her boyfriend, Alejandro Gómez Ariaz were traveling together.
A bus accident caused severe injuries to her body. She was impaled by a steel
handrail, which went into her hip and came out the other side. Kahlo stayed at
the Red Cross Hospital in Mexico City for few weeks, during her recovery she
began painting her first self-portrait which she gave to Alejandro.
At that time medicine wasn’t that good.
She had 32 surgical operations throughout her life and she had wear corsets of diffrent
kinds and mechanical ‘‘stretching’’ systems. Because of that physical
conditions Frida made lots of her works laying in bed, also she couldn’t have children,
which was traumatizing for her.

I guess you are going to write another post about her as there is nothing here about Diego Rivera or about her paintings.
